Break Time is a small shop on purpose. Here is how we decide what goes on the site.
No complete bikes. Sacramento has good bike shops for that, and a bike deserves a test ride. We sell the things that go on the bike and on the rider: mounts, bags, grips, tools, small parts, helmets and clothing.
Few brands, chosen on purpose. Every brand here makes one kind of thing well and stands behind it. Wolf Tooth machines most of its parts in its own Minnesota shop. Outer Shell sews its bags in San Francisco. ESI makes its silicone grips in Arizona. KOM makes computer and radar mounts that solve real problems, like getting a Varia onto a saddle bag. Timber makes a trail bell that rings itself. Voler makes cycling kit in California. Showers Pass has built cycling rain gear out of Portland for nearly three decades. Thousand designs helmets in Los Angeles that people actually want to wear. When we add a brand, it is because we would put it on our own bikes.
No entry-tier parts and no ten-dollar multipacks. If the cheapest version of something is fine, buy it at the big store. We carry the version we would tell a friend to buy, and we try to say why on every product page.
Not a price race. We sell at the brand's price, and so does everyone else who plays fair. What you get here that you do not get from a warehouse is a straight answer about whether the part fits your bike, before you order.
Ships from the brand. We do not hold inventory yet. Your order goes to the brand's warehouse and ships from there, usually within a day or two, so you get fresh stock and we get to stay small. Details are on the Shipping and Returns pages.
What we are working on. The consumables riders actually replace: disc brake pads, chains, cassettes, cleats. More clothing as the weather turns. If something you think belongs here is missing, tell us.
Break Time Bicycle Co. is veteran-owned and based in East Sacramento. There is more about the shop and the name on the About page.
