The pads and cleanup supplies to do the brakes on your Aventon, front and rear, in one box. "Which pads fit my bike?" is one of the most common questions e-bike riders ask. For most Aventons, this kit is the answer. Tools are not included; see what you will need below.
What fits
Aventons with the Tektro HD-E3520 hydraulic brake (the caliper says Tektro):
- Abound, Abound SR and Abound LR
- Aventure 2 and 3
- Level 2, and Level 3 bikes with Tektro brakes
- Pace 500 (all versions) and Pace 4
Check your caliper first if you have: an original Aventure or Level (some shipped with Bengal brakes), a Level 3 (some have Magura brakes), or a Pace 5 or Level 4 (these use a different Tektro brake this kit does not cover). Email a photo of your brake caliper to support@breaktimebicycle.com and we will tell you before you order.
What's in the box
- 2 sets of Tektro E10.11 resin brake pads, one for each wheel
- Alcohol prep pads for cleaning the rotors and a lint-free microfiber cloth for drying them
- 2 pairs of nitrile gloves: one pair for taking out the old pads, a fresh pair before you touch the new pads or the rotors, so skin oil stays off the braking surfaces
- A card with a QR code that opens our Aventon brake pad guide, with step-by-step photos
What you will need (not included)
Our guide takes the front wheel off and leaves the rear wheel in, unbolting the rear caliper instead. For that you need:
- A 6 mm hex key for the front thru axle and a 5 mm hex key for the rear caliper bolts. The Sumart sliding T-handle set has both.
- Needle-nose pliers for the pad retaining pin
- A pad spreader, such as the Sumart UBB-20, or a plastic tire lever to push the pistons back. Never anything metal.
- A torque wrench
Only if you take the rear wheel out, for example to replace the rear rotor at the same time, you will also need an 18 mm socket, wire cutters and two zip ties. The guide covers both ways.
Why resin pads
Aventon lists low-noise resin pads for this brake and notes that pad compounds are not universally compatible, so we match what the bike came with. Resin pads are quiet and grab well. If the pads are down to about 1 mm of material, it's time.
Before you buy
- Wipe each rotor with a prep pad, then dry it with the cloth, and let it dry fully before the pads go back against it.
- If your brake lever feels soft or sinks toward the bar, that is a bleed, not a pad problem. Take it to a shop.
- Squealing but pads still thick? Try cleaning first with SILCA Ultimate Brake + Drivetrain Cleaner.
- Ships from us in Sacramento within 1 to 2 business days.
Why we carry it
Tektro, the Taiwanese brake maker, makes the brakes on most Aventons. Pairing Tektro pads with the right supplies and clear instructions means one order, one afternoon, and brakes that work like new.
Not sure this fits your ride? Ask before you order: support@breaktimebicycle.com. We'd rather answer an email than process a return.
