Outer Shell Rack Bag

This bag was born from three years of iterations, riding the city commute to after-work overnighters and beyond. Inside, you can fit a 13 inch laptop, sleeping bag, cooking pot, extra clothes, and more.

It is identical to the Outer Shell 137 Basket Bag but larger, sized for the Wald 1392. It also fits a variety of other large racks, using movable attachment straps.

Two buckled straps secure the bottom, while the lid keeps everything down tight but still accessible with one hand. The lid has an elastic cord running through it, with hooks like a bungee net.

Shoulder strap attachment points make this bag excellent off the bike as well. With the side inserts removed, it cinches down into a triangle, so you are not lugging around a bulky box.

Made in the USA, in San Francisco.

Why we carry it: This is the most cargo Outer Shell will sell you in a single bag. It is cut for the Wald 1392, which is a front basket, so this most often rides up front where you can see what you are carrying. The movable attachment straps also fit plenty of large rear racks. Same fabric, same San Francisco shop and same lifetime warranty as their small bags.

Before you buy: Look hard at the 137 Basket Bag first. It is the same bag in the smaller Wald 137 size and it is exactly $50 less in every color. For most people it is enough bag.

Size up to this one only if you already know the 137 is too small, or you are running a 1392 or a similarly large rack. And note this is a bag, not a basket. You need the basket or rack already.
