The one to buy if you overheat in rain jackets. Showers Pass calls it a softshell and it wears like one: four-way stretch, soft inside and out, quiet, and the most breathable shell they make. Fully waterproof and seam taped all the same.

Three-layer eliteAIR fabric, 100% recycled polyester face and backer, seam taped throughout. Showers Pass rates it 15,000 mm waterproof and 40,000 g/m2 per 24 hours breathable, roughly four times the Syncline. Large core vents that double as mesh pockets. Low profile front zip with storm flap and reflective trim. A big back pocket the whole jacket packs into. Double cinch hem, partially elasticized cuffs, moisture-wicking collar lining. 9.8 oz in a medium. No hood.

Sizing: S to 3XL in Pear, S to XL in Black. Trim tailored fit, the closest cut of the four jackets we carry. Chest decides it. If you are between sizes, or you want a base layer under it, go up.

Before you buy: buy the Cloudburst if you ride hard enough to sweat in the rain and would rather stay comfortable than sealed. Buy the Century if you want the lighter jacket in your pocket and more waterproofing. Buy the Syncline CC if you commute, want a hood, and would rather keep the $64.

Specs: Material: three-layer eliteAIR, 100% recycled polyester face and backer, four-way stretch. Pattern: solid color with reflective trim. Type: waterproof softshell cycling jacket, no hood.

Waterproof (mm) is how tall a column of water the fabric holds back before it leaks; 10,000 handles steady rain, 25,000 and up handles a downpour. Breathable (g) is how much sweat vapor escapes per square meter in a day; higher means less clammy when you are working hard.
