Handup's cool-morning glove, in Sunrise Ridge Rider. Handup rates it for 38 to 50 degrees: fleece on top for warmth, the same thin palm as its summer gloves for bar feel.

Single-layer, fleece-lined top, a single-layer microfiber palm that works a touchscreen, and an extended neoprene cuff that tucks under a jacket sleeve. Silicone print on the palm for grip. Terry cloth wipe on the thumb.

Other prints: Lucid Topo.

Sizing: unisex, XXS to 2XL. The gloves stretch as you wear them, so Handup says to take the smaller size if you are between two.

Which glove for your morning?

Handup ColdEST, $58. Buy it if: your mornings drop below freezing.
Rated: 26 to 38°F. Waterproof: yes, membrane plus synthetic insulation and a silk lining. Feel: the warmest and bulkiest here.

Cross Point Pro Wool, $59. Buy it if: your hands run cold, or your mornings sit in the 30s and 40s.
Rated: 30 to 50°F. Waterproof: yes, membrane plus merino liner. Feel: snug knit.

Handup ColdER Plus, $39. Buy it if: you want waterproof warmth near freezing for less.
Rated: 32 to 44°F. Waterproof: yes, top and palm, two-layer fleece lining. Feel: bulky, less bar feel.

Cross Point Sport, $54. Buy it if: you ride in the rain more than the cold.
Rated: 40 to 65°F. Waterproof: yes, membrane plus wicking liner, runs cooler. Feel: snug knit.

Handup Cold Weather, $34. Buy it if: your mornings are cool and dry and you want to feel the bar.
Rated: 38 to 50°F. Waterproof: no, water resistant (Handup rates it 50%). Fleece top, thin palm. Prints: Lucid Topo, Sunrise Ridge Rider.

Ratings are the makers' own. Below freezing? ColdEST. Cold and wet? Cross Point Pro Wool or ColdER Plus. Rainy but mild? Cross Point Sport. Cool and dry? Cold Weather. On the Cross Point, snug is right: a loose waterproof glove is a cold glove.

Size chart: measurements for every size we stock.

Care: wash cold and inside out, then air dry palm up. No dryer.

Before you buy: this glove is water resistant, not waterproof: Handup's chart rates it 50%, against 100% for the ColdER Plus and ColdEST. For rain, look at the Showers Pass Cross Point gloves; for mornings near freezing, the Handup ColdER Plus.
